Celebrating our Second Princess: Baby Sprinkle

March is off to an amazing start! Our families came together and we celebrated our newest addition to the Douglas Family. We had a baby sprinkle in honor of our newest princess and it all came together so beautifully. It’s hard to imagine that about two years ago we were celebrating with a baby shower for our first princess, Anaís.

Anaís baby shower had a woodland theme, we had tons of cute foxes, owls, hedgehogs, and so many more adorable creatures all over the place! For this princess, the only theme that seemed fitting was a baby elephant! Why? It may be because of my Hindu background but elephants are seen as godly. The Hindu god Ganesha who is an elephant, represents luck, protection, and fortune, and brings blessings wherever he goes. This second princess came at a wonderful time and I feel like so many good things have come to the Douglas family since we discovered her existence.

I purchased my Baby Sprinkle elephant themed invitation from Etsy. It couldn’t have been more fitting! A baby elephant with a floral crown? I mean c’mon, too darn cute!

All of our baby sprinkle decor came from Party City and Dollar Tree, two of my absolute favorite places to go for decor! Aside from Etsy of course. I was able to find affordable but adorable floral themed decor as well as matching potted flowers to decorate the dessert table with. I also added a giant elephant balloon (you can see it at the top of some photos) because I couldn’t help myself — hahah! But it all came together beautifully! A special thanks to my hubby for climbing all over the place and blowing up tons of balloons to bring my ideas to life!

Our baby sprinkle was filled with many of our closest family and friends, beautiful decor, absolutely delicious and equally lovely desserts, and yummy food. My favorite baker who is also the owner of Cutesy Cakes by Jenn catered our event and she did an absolutely amazing job! The desserts were almost two beautiful to eat, and I mean, don’t get me started on the delectable two-tier cake! We also special ordered 3 dozens of chocolate sprinkled donuts to give away as favors, from one of our favorite places to get treats, Brooklyn Baking Co.

Wondering what delicious desserts we had at the party? Let’s go down the list, we had chocolate covered Oreos, chocolate cake pops, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, frosted pretzel rods, cheesecake brownies, confetti cupcakes, and lastly, the stunning two-tier cake! The first layer was wonderfully frosted with buttercream and the inside was a deliciously moist vanilla custard cake, the second layer coated in beautiful pink rosettes, was a soft chocolate cake with airy mousse.

One of my favorite things about desserts from Jenns Bakery is that she puts so much time, effort, and love, into all of the details. I sent her a picture of our invitation, which featured an adorable elephant, and she took that concept and centered our entire dessert table around it! The details on the cupcakes, the cake, the cake pops, all of it, I’m forever in awe of her hard work!

Aside from desserts, we served: buffalo chicken wraps, rich and creamy buffalo dip, arugula salad, pigs in a blanket, chips with four choices of dip, a cheese platter as well as a veggie platter. There were also 3 choices of beers, options for hard liquor, and many beverage choices for kids and pregnant moms like myself. We chose to have a light menu because it was easier and I felt more people would enjoy small meals mid-day, rather than hearty ones.

Party favors for a baby sprinkle was a no-brainer! We gave away goodie-bags filled with pink nail polish and pink bath bombs, as well as a big, fluffy chocolate sprinkled donut from Brooklyn Bakery. Our guests were so delighted to receive their treats!

All in all, it was a wonderful way to celebrate our second princess. I’m so glad we decided to have a baby sprinkle because it all came together so beautifully. I’m thankful for all of our family and friends who came and helped us put the party together, to those who helped decorate, purchased food, helped prepare meals, assisted in goodie bags, and everything else. We appreciate you guys and are so grateful you’re in our lives!

I’m so grateful for everyone around me and for my beautiful family. I’m so excited to add another princess to our little Douglas House of Love. We can’t wait to meet you baby girl!

Love,

The Douglas Family
